Mac Tabby Charlotte's First Cat Cafe

On a recent drive thru NoDa in Charlotte, BTW thats North Davidson Street for all you newbies. I almost wrecked my car. I saw a sign and the only words I caught were cat and yoga. I don't know about you, but I am not a yoga fan unless we put some cats in the mix. I am a cat lover, always have been so, I knew this place was my destination.

Mac Tabby Cat Cafe is located in the NoDa neighborhood and it feels so good in here. It's located in one of the older buildings and that is great for the community, but the vibes are the best. It is a fun, happy place with so much goodness.

Here is Lori,  lucky owner of Mac Tabby with Sawyer, who was recently adopted.

The cat lounge is furnished with comfortable seating and soft furry play areas for cats and humans. Reservations can be made online and are encouraged because only a certain number of people are allowed in the room at one time. Booking is easy at their website below.

All the cats that you come in contact with have been vetted

and have all of their shots and each cat is available for adoption.

So far they have placed 5 cats in forever homes within 7 days. Thats some stats to be proud of.

I wanna live here too! This space is just the best.

Find a seat and snuggle a cat.

They serve local coffee with the most adorable sayings on the package.

My favorite was relationship status-CATS.

Glass viewing windows into the cat room.
This is nice, but you will really need to go inside for some cuddle time.

They also offer paint classes, story time and yoga in the cat lounge.

Thanks Lori for letting us visit. Go snuggle a cat, it feels really good.

In Celebration of Julia Child

I have always adored Julia Child and watched her all the time growing up. On Tuesday August 15th she would have been 105 years old. She brought French cooking to Americans and it was a huge hit.

In honor of Julia's upcoming birthday, I attended a french cooking class with Heidi Billotto. Heidi is a culinary expert and she lives in Charlotte. Let me just say this woman knows her way around a kitchen. She is a wealth of knowledge, tips and skills about all types of cooking.

Before we started cooking, Heidi brought out champagne and we toasted Julia Child. What a cool way to honor her and let her know we still love her. We started with small appetizers and then moved on to the delicious main menu.

Cheers to Julia!

Figs with brie

The menu was so Julia featuring Classic French Onion Soup( my favorite),Classic Cheese Souffles(first time eating this and yummy), Julia Child's French Roast Chicken, Julia Childs Cog au Vin, French Almond Chocolate creme tart. A group of people were in attendance and we all jumped in and started prep work under Heidi's guidance.

Heidi likes to use local products from local farmers and if she can't find local she goes with organic.
The taste was amazing as we had ducks eggs which are bigger than a regular egg. We used fresh chicken from the local farmer's market and some of the most amazing spices I have ever tasted, the recipes called for cheese and a lot of it. My last meal request, may just be cheese.

Classic French Onion Soup

One of my all time favorite dishes, hot or cold outside just give me this soup. After eating this I knew I was in for some amazing dishes as the day went on and let me just say I was not disappointed.

Julia Child's French Roasted Chicken was so yummy and tender.

Juniper Berries

I love smells and these spices smelled so fresh. We used them as seasoning on the roasted chicken.

Here is Heidi seasoning the chicken before roasting.

Classic Cheese Souffles
Each dish that we ate was complimented with a wine from Assorted Table.

Browning the chicken for Cog au Vin

We rounded out the delicious foods with this lovely dessert
French Almond Chocolate creme tart

Fresh Watermelon from Bradford Watermelons

Watermelon Molasses also from Bradford Farm

Check this pan closet out. I think I hear angels singing.
Here Heidi keeps all her pots and pans for easy access.

Myself with Tom & Heidi Billotto.
Thank you so much for welcoming us into your home and celebrating Julia's Birthday.

Wanna follow Heidi?

Her website can be found here

She is also on twitter @HeidiCooks

Hope you can honor Julia Child either with these dishes or one of the hundreds that she brought to us.

Bon Appetit!

Bullet Journaling- I just started my first few pages

Hello Ya'll!  I am sure that you may have heard of bullet journaling at one point or another. I had heard of bullet journaling or bujo for short but, I had never really looked into it, until now. I love me some planning, I can't help it. I wanna be a reckless rebel with no cares or worries but, planning is my thing. So, what is bullet journaling? I am going to take you right to the source on this one check out Did you know a man started the bullet journal? Nothing wrong with it I just thought it would have been a woman. Let me just say no offense to Ryder Carrol but, I kinda follow his plan and then I toss most of it out the window. Do whatever works for you as far as bullet journaling goes.

My planner is more appointments, dreams, to do list, and doodles of whatever is going on in my head. From day to day I have a few things swirling around and I like to just put them out there on paper to maybe look over again another day. I am visual so the doodles hold my attention and the coloring puts me at ease. Now I know if you google bullet journal you are going to get these intense layouts with all the rules you have to follow and supplies you need to purchase. But you really don't need all that or yes you want that in the future but, for now start small and you can get those things as time goes by.

This is the notebook I have started my bullet journal with. About 6 bucks from Target. I wanted to be able to rip pages out of mine so I went with spiral.  Get what feels good to you. I went cheap just in case the wind blows tomorrow and I stop my bullet journal.

Notebook info in case anyone asks.

I know it is kinda messy but it will be ok. This maybe the only part of the original bullet journal techniques I have followed. You do this part however you want so that you can keep up with your book.

I have my pages numbered and put them in the index as I go along. So, I did the weekly of July and then moved onto some other projects I wanted to get in my journal. This pages is for back to school things not to forget.

Here is my July weekly. I am not sure If i am going to stay with this format yet. I am still playing with what works.

This was a personal goals page I made for my self to try and stay on task.

If you have know me more than 2 seconds you know how much i love quotes. So this page is just for a few of my favorites. If I fill this page up I can add another page anywhere I want to. This is the beauty of the journal.

This page is for some string art projects I have in the works. It takes some planning to pull one off and I wanna stay on track.

This page is for a personal goals sheet I am working on.

Hello August! I went with the monthly and left space for to do list on the sides and bottom. August is jammed with backed to school and back to work and a lot of things going on in between so I may need to expand this section a tad.

So, thats what I have so far. I am watching You Tube videos daily and practicing my doodles and hand writing to make my journal appealing to the eye. I just have a pen, a felt tip marker and some colored pencils. I promise you nothing fancy at all.

If this was helpful to you please leave comments or if you have questions I will try and answer the best I can.

Happy Bullet Journaling!

Coddle Creek Farms Market-Fresh, Local & Delicious.

Recently, I checked out the Coddle Creek Farms Market.

The market is located in the adorable gray building you see on

Coddle Creek Highway in Mooresville.

They carry all kinds of goodies and a vast selection of Apple Butter

They also have fresh vegetables, fruits, pimento cheese and milk in stock.

Want some local corn meal or biscuit mix?

 Lets make biscuits for dinner.

Fresh beans by the pound

When was the last time you were able to buy beans by the scoop? Love this concept.

Fresh beans are the best, cooked all day on the stove or crock pot.

Serve beans with those biscuits and dinner is done.

Coddle Creek Farms also carries Muscadine & Scuppernog juice

If you love Honey, this is the best and it is Pure local wildflower honey.

Homemade Peanut Butter

Now, the Peanut Butter is handmade by Mama Young and it is so good.

I bought the regular peanut butter and use on toast for breakfast, it is so smooth and creamy.

They have crunchy, chocolate and creamy.

I sampled the chocolate peanut butter and it was good.

Stop by and see the nice folks at the Coddle Creek Farms Market.

They will be getting in more fresh vegetables and fruits as the seasons change.

I can't wait for tomatoes, watermelons and all those summer crops.

They are located at

2200 Coddle Creek Highway

Mooresville, NC
