Recessed Light Kit

I took my kitchen from drab to fab in just a few simple steps.

It all started with this conversion pendant fitter kit, I picked up at Lowe's.

The nice man at Lowe's walked me thru how the kit works and it seemed easy enough.

These kits are great if you live in an apartment or rent,

and really can't change the lighting completely.

This kit takes recessed lights and turns them into pendant lights.

In my excitement to update the old lighting, I forgot to snap a before pic.

But really if you have seen one ugly recessed light, you have seen enough!

You can chose different finishes to match your style. I went with the brushed nickel.

So, you chose a style of finish and then you pick a globe to match your homes decor.

It was an easy installation and the kit gives you plenty of wire to adjust the length.

 Easy as that, I swear!

Lowe's stocks lots of globes to choose from but, this blue cracked glass one worked for me.

I think it would be cool to change the globe with the seasons or if you just want something different.

Updating this light over my sink didn't stop here, I updated the light over the table and island also.

Come back next time to see that progress.

You can purchase your own kit here at Lowes.com

Cucumber & Onion Salad

Cucumber & Onion Salad

My Mom used to make a bowl of this and keep it in our fridge all

summer and we ate it almost every meal.

She always got her cucumbers from Mr.Ingle who lived behind us and he

had the most amazing garden every year.

It is simple, easy and refreshing!

You will need:

2-3 Large Cucumbers
1 Med White Onion
1/2 cup of sugar
2 Cups water
1 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon pepper
I also add some celery seeds to mine.

Trim the ends of the cucumber and slice in thin slices
Slice the onion
Add all this to a bowl and let set over night
Enjoy! I hope it brings back as memories for you as it does me.

UPDATE-The Queen has gone insane in her cleaning HTML mode and hit the wrong key. I promise this blog is full some pretty awesome and amazing things. Can't you picture it in your mind? When the Queen gets it figured out the Castle will be re-opened. Good Day!

I have been pulling my hair for the last several days because of my stupid error. I edited the HTML code in my blog and made things go really crazy. I cried, I asked for help from professionals and I prayed.

Yes, I was a ball of craziness, tears and regret. Today was the sentencing of my blogs past years post and the outlook wasn't good. I was told by folks who know way more about computer coding that it was over and all those years of cooking, travel and meeting the President post were gone.

I refused to believe this as I am just a glass half full kinda girl. I put on my boxing gloves and met coding head to head and made my brain smoke in signals it has never seen before and VOILA, I fixed my blog myself.

You go Dana with your bad self.

What have I learned-
1. Always back up your Blog before making any changes

2.Never give up-Actually I already live this one everyday.

3. When your down and out the best thing to do is walk away for a while and clear your head. Sometime you can't see the forest for the trees.

So, I am back and Thank you for sticking with me as I go insane trying to learn a skill(coding) that small children know how to do these days.
